Not to take anything away from Dave but sometimes I lurk on the Modern Blues Harmonica forum that Adam Gussow supports. Today I checked out the rest of the site and found some jam tracks for sell. The two volumes cost a whopping total of $20.00. They're great. I would highly recommend them. Also the Grove Trax that Jimi Lee has produced are outstanding and I think you can get those through Dave. I think supporting these efforts is giving back to the community that David has suggested. If you have any other jam tracks other than David's post it here for everyone to see. continue reading...
Google+ "hangouts" provide a fun way to meet online in a video conf with up to 10 people at a time. Should be an excellent way to share riffs, resources, talk about bluesharmonica.com courses, and harmonica playing technique. After creating a free account, search for Harmonica Circle and add the members of each to your own harmonica circle. Then watch for invitations to live online meetings and ongoing discussion about harmonica playing. If a circle exist specific to bluesharmonica.com let me know.

Hi guys. I picked up blues harmonica about 4 years ago and practice daily. I love it as much as you do. The thing is, I spent all that time learning as a lip purser, only to find out relatively recently that tongue blocking is the way professionals play. I'm aware of all the advantages of tongue blocking. It did sort of suck to learn that everything I was doing was more or less wrong, and that I must start over. At this point, I'm a lot more comfortable with tongue blocking, and I can bend with my throat instead of just lips. I can do scales in 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. continue reading...
I've found an iPhone App called Pitch Pro by Frozen Ape. They also make a metronome. But it's the Pitch Pro that really interests me. I've been using it to dial in my 2 and 3 draw bends. It can be a real eye opener to try and play to the correct pitch and hold it for the 6 second duration the pitch pipe plays. In Dave's beginning study on bending there is a pdf that shows all the keys with all the bends available. Even over blows and overdraws. I'm pretty sure it's going to take me years to tune my ear to the correct pitch and play that on the corresponding harmonica. continue reading...
