First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Patrick and I have been interested in the Harmonica for years but never was anywhere that I could take it up and get lessons. This site has made that available and possible. So far I am really enjoying it.

I bought a Big River Harp in the key of C and of course was excited that I could play little songs such as Oh Susanna. But I did notice that I was not sounding rich and flowing. Now I know why. My technique was all wrong.

I started this site just yesterday and was going to buy a Hohner 20 in the key of A as David said that I need for the first lessons. When I got to the store the clerk showed me the Hohner Piedmont Blues kit that holds seven of the popular keys.

Question:
Is it alright to learn on these as I go through this course? My thought was when I got better then I will start buying the different keys in a better harmonica. Please advise. Thank you.

DO NOT BY THESE HARPS

My kids bought me these harmonics for my birthday a couple of years ago. These harps do not work very
well mainly you have to work really hard at getting good tone. I would say your are better off buying one special 20 in the key of A. The hohner hotmetal harp is ok for a 10 dollar harp. I have three of these for practicing in the key of A,D,G.
Welcome to the site

Thank you Albert

Yes I agree I did not like them. I went back today and bought the Hohner special 20, much much better. Thank you again.
