hi i'm looking for song suggestions to build my band's list fairly quickly. 4 piece, bass, drum, guitar, harp/voc
all the band are kinda new to blues...the bass player is simply new, but the drummer and guitarist very capable. i have limited improv skills...(working on it!) but able to pick things up copycat style pretty well
i thought Brand New Cadillac could fit in...and maybe a jimmy reed number like 'bright lights...' or '...what you want me to do?'...(although those blow bends in bright lights will bug me)... continue reading...
I've seen Dennis do the LW tribute before when he first started it and I've seen Dennis play many times, have had group and individual lessons with him. I've always thought Dennis was a brillant Harp master and very creative and have always enjoyed his concerts. I said all that to say this was someone that I wouldn't think could have gotten significantly better. continue reading...
Dear friends,
i'm totally distressed :-(( trying "Take it easy now" chorus 1 to play 5 draw with slap and directly bending.
Is there an exercise for bending with simultaneously tongue block?
Just wondering if any other Bluesharmonica.com subscribers or David would have some good suggestions of some classic swing tracks or youtube vids to watch or listen to in preparation for the King of Swing?

I really enjoyed lesson 10 on improvising. Great finishing touch on this set of lessons. If you're like me, with a day job and a busy life, then maybe you've jumped around a bit in these lessons. David summarizes all of the lessons really nicely, so you can get a sense of what you've missed, and whets your appetite a bit to try them. He also puts the information in context, so you get an idea of where it's best to put your energies for your level. Very inspiring, because you feel you're on track for where you're headed with, what I think, is the ultimate promised land for blues harmonica. continue reading...
I haven't had problems with diatonics but tongue blocking while using the chromatic is different.
A 4 holes embouchure only cover three holes in the chromatic and I have to change my mouth feelings in order to achieve a four holes embouchure.
I put this post in General because I think is better for recalling answers from David, WInslow or forum members.
When I play diatonic (tongue blocking) the note I play is aimed slightly at the right from my mouth center. continue reading...
