Has anyone used a software package called "Transcribe!" ?? It was recommended to me by an outstanding harp player (IMHO) who uses it in much the same way as I use Amazing Slowdowner. It has (as I start to experiment with it) the advantage of being able to 'mark up' the sound track into sections (chorus), bars, and beats. I've tried it on 3 of our songs and it certainly does help with identifying the chorus, bar etc. and I'm trying to get to what else it can do. continue reading...

To make a long story short: as a result of the recession I've had to move several times this year and I plan to move one more time at end of my lease in about 8 months. I was wondering if people had any words of wisdom or just wanted to share how playing the harmonica and listening to the blues a lot has affected, or not, their choice of housing.
I'll start: during the past year I've had occasion to live
--with roommates. My area of the house had two rooms, so the front room acted as insulation so that my roommates wouldn't have to hear me play the same thing over and over again. continue reading...
Tom Ball and David talked about this in an interview, so I had to look it up.

I saw Mark Hummel play Saturday at a Bluesfest event. Afterwards I had a lesson with Mark back at his hotel. First off Mark and his band are great players and put on an excellent show. Getting close to someone who plays at that level is invaluable. Mark Hummels unamplified tone is excellent, he has serious chops and is a prince to deal with. His passion for his instrument and music is infectious. Did I learn what I thought I was going to learn? Yes and no, but I learned many things that I didn't even expect. continue reading...

In order to make better recording I bought the UA-1G USB audio interface and it come with Sonar-LE 6 software. I have been a member of bluesharmonica for only a short while. But let me just say, "It’s awesome!"
I've have taken other online lessons and they were ok, but this one really hits the passion of the harmonica. BTW: I loved the harmonica museum video- very amazing!
Can I play? Well, I have my good notes, let's say... But each night I practice, and I am surrounded by other musicians so maybe in time and hard work I will get it. continue reading...
Hi this is my first post too!. I finally had enough courage to play at my first blues jam session. It was at a local pub & with one of our local blues bands the Shelley Turner Band who were all really lovely. it was my birthday & I thought it was now or never & it was just about the most exciting & fun thing I have ever done. I was very nervous but as I was playing all Davids advice & his words from the improvising workshop kicked in so I was never without something to play.I am really looking forward now to the next one in August-thanks again david! continue reading...
