I saw Mark Hummel play Saturday at a Bluesfest event. Afterwards I had a lesson with Mark back at his hotel. First off Mark and his band are great players and put on an excellent show. Getting close to someone who plays at that level is invaluable. Mark Hummels unamplified tone is excellent, he has serious chops and is a prince to deal with. His passion for his instrument and music is infectious. Did I learn what I thought I was going to learn? Yes and no, but I learned many things that I didn't even expect. I felt like a rank beginner walking out of the hotel room and a little down but also inspired more than ever. I feel like practicing every waking moment until I have some of what Mark has. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
