I've been a longtime Tascam Practice machine user. Starting with the CD-GT1, then upgrading to the MP-GT1, and then the DR1 which is what I use now.
I always wished my iPod could do the same thing. As it is I have to transfer everything I want to learn from my iPod to my DR1.
Well, there is now a FREE app for the iPod that can slowdown and loop without changing pitch. I'm checking it out now but I think it may replace my DR1 (which I paid about $225 for on sale).
One thing I like is you can name and save phrases. Very handy. Will be giving it a thorough workout shortly. continue reading...
I was just going through some of my issues of "Blues Review" Magazine and found some "Right on the Number" lessons that I'd like to work through. I couldn't seem to find the audio online tho? Is it still available somewhere?
Had a great time at the NHL event and it was good so meet Dave in person - as usual, the instruction was focussed, precise and full of lightbulb moments. Could only make it on Saturday unfortunately, but I'll definitely be going back again. Anyone else from Bluesharmonica.com go?
I am planning to play at my 1st jam, in 5 weeks time. nominated songs (all in E) are mojo, before you accuse me, sweet home chicago. i have some experience at mojo, but not the others. i have quite a few versions of SHC to learn from, but would appreciate any pointers to a good version of BYAM. also, any good lessons based on these songs.
all advice appreciated,
thanks, Dave

The House Band guitar player at our local jam told me (suggested, recommended?) to learn 5+ heads to classic blues songs that most players at the jam would know so I could lead off with the head and then improvise from there when the harp solo comes. He's been a huge help to me with amp/PA set up and other jam etiquette stuff so I'm happy to listen to him. Any suggestions for songs that start with a harp 'head' before I do a lot of searching through my library. I'll be happy to share my research.
I would imagine I speak for many of us when I say "Thank you" for all the effort you put into all of these highly informative interviews with experienced players and others involved in manufacturing, repairing, or modifying the harmonica and related equipment.
Since the room remains unchanged, and at times you can hear a knock at the door for the next interviewee, it is clear that you took advantage of SPAH or some other organized event where many of the important folks dealing with the harmonica are present at the same time. continue reading...
Great interview with Greg!! Just finished watching the series and it was very informative. His closing comments are for real!! He is more than willing to help and answer questions. I have several of his products (yeah, I know -GAS - gear acquisition syndrome) and right from the very first thing, found him to be genuinely interested in finding out what was best for me. Since then I've come to realize how naive some of my questions were but he never once made me feel like I was imposing on his time.
