This clip shows the boogie woogie (50s dance), a dance popular in Europe. Beats me why it hasn't been revived in the states yet. It really gets down, litterally. It is very grounded, i.e., with weight into the ground, just like slow blues dancing done to gut bucket blues. This dance could be done to a large part of our repertoire. continue reading...
Don't know if this is legitimate or not (and if not David just pull it off), but with Share! being for original stuff, I didn't feel it was fair to put this there.
I'm trying to get some covers together for the local jam and am realizing the value of adding vocals when it comes to being asked up. One I've starting working on is Stormy Monday and was hoping to get some feedback/comments on the vocals, harp, and recording, mix etc. I'm really hoping this is OK because on this site we are all about learning. If any of you feel this is not right, please let me know and I'll pull it. continue reading...
Just curious - Yazoo, can you provide the tab or instruction to the intro and outro portion of the 'Strollin Down The Tracks' ? Or anyone who might know how it's played... (As mentioned by someone, the lick is similar to Peg Leg Sam Born for Hard Luck)
Tab sharing - akin to how largest pumpkin growers that win the contest has to share the seeds with his competitors :-)
Next Friday 21 January and saturday I'm in San Francisco (since many years). Where should I go for a good Blues night? The list of blues bars on googleis so long that I don't know which to choose. Is there a place with jam session? Thank you.
Just thought about this. I am not sure about Special 20's are ( Compromised Tunnings ) And Marine Band's are what? the same? and for the openings one the side for a brighter sound.
The "Tip of the Day" series on "Practice" is incredibly valuable information.
Personally "Practice Tips - Part 5, What" is very valuable to me. I have spent years practicing David's materials without spending the 20 minutes a day on "Applying the licks to a jam track (Chorus Forms)".
If you're just starting with the harp don't make this mistake.
Learning to play songs perfectly without the ability to freely jam is like being in a prison of sorts. I'm vowing to breakout this year.
Thanks to David for this great Tip of the Day series on "Practice"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Gang,
if any of you live in Germany/Switzerland, or anywhere in Europe and would like to get together to meet and have a "BluesHarmonica.com" jam session, please contact me.
Current level:
Working on Gary´s Blues and The Strut.
I thought it would be a good idea for us harmonica players to help each other out and this will also give us the drive to better ourselves. continue reading...
Practicing Tongue Agility Ex: 1.1 -- 4+ n 1 + & 5+ n 2+ I am getting that Sweet sound [ almost at will when I want to play it ( Fox Chase ) sound not really sure if it's the right sound. But it sounds good. I think I get an Octave .The sound that comes out stills sound good. Go figure. I would like to know the right sound. So I can play it right.
I can't believe this. After years of noise in our house. To put this in perspective, you have to understand - this is a musical household. We have many guitars, keyboards, amps, brass and woodwind instruments. My older son and daughter both play. My daughter recently started her own band. My five-year-old has a big mouth and can cause a ruckus all his own without an instrument. We have had many musicians over the years jamming at the house. Heck, when I met my wife I was a traveling musician for pete's sake! continue reading...
