Just returned from the Hornby Island Blues Workshop - four days of workshops for guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and harp players along with vocalists - all in the blues genre. This because I no longer had the opportunity to attend David's Masterclass workshop in San Jose (miss it!!) The 'major' workshop (every morning) I chose was written up like this: continue reading...
I'm now working for Harrison Harmonicas. Richard Sleigh and I will be working out of our own shops helping with the current backlog. I'll still be customizing Seydel Harmonicas... in fact I'm as busy as ever now that the weather has brightened up. This is a great opportunity for me with many exciting things that could happen in the future. You bluesharmonica.com friends will be the first to know.

For those of you that are making the trip to Steve Baker's Harmonica Masters Workshop in Trossingen, Germany, join me for dinner at 6pm at the Hotel Traub (my favorite Italian restaurant) in the back room Friday night. I'll buy a round of beer for everyone. I'll post this in the General section of the forum as well... please let me know if you'll be joining us... it should be a good time.

I initially learned how to play the harmonica using the pucker embouchure and I used tongue blocking for all the obvious techniques that require it. As I started figuring out various things on the harmonica, sometimes it was just easier to keep on tongue blocking when transferring from an octave to a single note and other switches of that kind. For a long time tongue blocked bending was out of my reach, but I persisted at it and thanks in no small part to the great material David Barrett has produced here I probably now tongue block far more than pucker. continue reading...
I love Evan Shuffle-I've been playing along to Davids recording & also an old James Cotton CD-can anyone please tell me is this a song that's jam friendly? If it is-how would you describe it to a band that wasnt familiar wth it-or just forget it? Thanks!!
Dear Mr. Barrett, why would you recommend the danelectro and lone wolf delay specifically? Is a ibanez cd10 delay just as good? Or is there a difference?
I have been getting in to working on harps retuning all my oldies and am ready to take the step in to special tunings but I have no idea how to go about creating a "filisko" harp. Anybody have note layouts or any tips?? Thanks
