If this isn't a problem with my harmonica, most liked it was already answered, but I couldn't find a search tool, so I'm asking, possibly again.
I just started and I'm still on the first level of LoA, in the middle of the study music, but I noticied something.
Even that I didn't need to draw on the hole 2 yet, just blow, I found out I can't draw on it. The sound gets all weird, almost doesn't sound at all. continue reading...
I have just logged on for the first time and am a complete novice. I bought a C Hohner Special 20 but the first page on Lessons says that a A Harmonica is required. Can you please clarify? Many thanks.
Sorry for the crosspost, but some folks don't view the chromatic forum...
If any of you saw the New Year's Eve Times Square celebration this year, you might have seen Sting perform "Brand New Day" on stage with a young chromatic harmonica player named Shane Sager. If you didn't see it, you can watch it here:
Maybe someone out there can share a best practices tidbit on how they practice their vibrato:
I feel that when I add vibrato to a sustained note, it comes out very staccato-y (choppy each note separate from the other). I would like my vibrato to have a bit more of a legato feel (all notes flow together), since when I hear the material I'm practicing, the vibrato is more of the latter.
Any thoughts on how - or what - to practice to achieve more flow on a vibrato?
Hey, I don't know where this question should go so I just put it in general. I just recently got Harp NInja and it's been great only one complaint. hopefully, I can get this cleared up. When I try and get the 6 hole draw to get the A note but it will have the green bubble thing on the 1 draw implying it is a D note? I'm just really confused about this. I wouldn't really call it a complaint just some confusion I need clear up.
I'm sure this has been hashed out a thousand times before but what's one more time between friends?
I can hit the 1 and 2 draw bends on my D and E specail 20s no problem. start having more diffiiculty when going down to the C harp. though I can make the lower hole bends start, can't get the 1 draw all the way down or the 2 draw to the whole step. continue reading...
Hi all, I’m new here and loving the lessons! I just want to ask though, when I’m practising bending, I find it far easier to curl my tongue to get the bend (rather than hump my tongue) - this is how I whistle, and I’m pretty good at whistling! , is this likely to cause me anybissues down the line, or is it just what works for me?
qusetion: what's best way to take the methods learned in the chordal studies and adapt them to less predictable styles such as hymns where chord changes may not fit into such predicability as in the 12 or 8 bar blues formats?
is there a method to approaching less predictable genres?
some bad habits do not show up right away but down the road, I am learning the hard way.
I know that breathing with diaphram is crucial but never developed that fundamental. Now in learning the bends, found out that bends sound sweeter when played with diaprham not lung power.
a simple 3+ 3" 3 3+ sequence making just my stomach pump the air seems both great exercise for humping g the back if the tongue not middle and for breathing.
I found out too trying to do one thing before I've gotten a fundamental down is counter productive. duh. continue reading...
