Hello guys , this is a great forum and resource , is there still a link somewhere that lists the songs-keys-harps used on many classic blues songs . Ive searched but cant find it . Thanks
Is anyone using the sjoberg Harp tuner? Ive decided to learn and custimize my own harmonicas. One question I have is if you need both reed plates together to get a accurate tuning.

Ive been using Harpninja for some time and find it great for learning to bend. I can see there is a lot more to this than simply doing bends. I watched the tutorials and still came away confused.
Im an intermediate player so I still spend nearly all my time in second postion. So that obviously means if Im on my A harp second postion Im in the key of E. So I set Harp Key to A and display Key to E and display scale ot Mixolydian.

Im about to submit my first story song for Dave's review. Any tips on what to expect and how to get the most out of the experience? Im submitting MyBlues which I consider to be a pretty challening chart.
Hi, does anyone here play to accompany themselves on bonjo? I`ve just started 5 string banjo and I can`t sing to save my life so would really like to learn to play along with harmonica. I play 3 finger style, mainly bluegrass, swing, folk, oldtime etc so not sure whether blues harp is the best discipline. I`d like to start with learning the fundamentals anyway but don`t want to head out in completely the wrong direction if it`s going to make problems for me later. I`m totally new to harmonica , not sure about keys etc so any advice at all would be massively appreciated. Thanks all
After reading the "safety instructions" that came with a new harmonica, as well as David's advice about possible over-stressing of reeds (due to blowing/drawing too hard), I am wondering how often some of you have had to replace a reed plate or entire harmonica? I realize that there would be a lot of factors which would affect this, such as how often one plays and for how long, the previously mentioned blowing too hard and other such things. So, I'm just wondering about some of your own experiences.

I took my A Harp apart for cleaning yesterday as it was gummed up. I put the reeds in a weak vinegar solution, rinsed it fully, re-assemled and find I can no longer bend anything. It draws hard now too. I cant see any kind of problem.
I'm not certain if this is the place to do this, but I wanted to say "hi" and introduce myself before diving in too deep into the forums.
My name is John I started playing at the harmonica in the '60's with a Marine Band. My dad had always played when I was growing up. He had a 64 Chromonica that he'd saved up for when he was in high school (around 1939-1940) and he carried it through WWII in the Pacific theater. I still have that harmonica, though the wood split and compromised much of the middle of the harmonica, but I purchased a new one probably 15 or 20 years ago. continue reading...
A year or so ago I went to a local jam to try a couple of songs. It went ok. I didnt make any one cringe but Im sure it was pretty typical performance for a newbie. This past weekend I went back with a small repertoire. Got my mojo working,Sweet home Chicago, I asked to start the set with The study song My blues. After that we Did Sunnyboy's Help me. continue reading...
