I use a program called Anytune which is a more modern adaptation of Amazing Slow Downer.

I there anyway to get a you tube audo into such a product without having the basic file?  Can I record it on Garage Band and then input the resulting file?

ClipGrab

Using ClipGrab you can rip the file on to your system and then simply load it as a MP3 file.

Ps with ClipGrab you don't need to record it. Simply play it and the app will rip the basic file onto your system as a stand alone MP3 file

Works great

Yes

I was able to play the youtube video, record it using an external mic and then easily drag it into Anytune using an MP3 format with no loss of quality.

YouTube to MP3

I use a MediaHuman app called YouTube to MP3, which also works with other online sources. You just paste in the url of the video, and the app will create an audio file in your specified format.

MediaHuman has other similarly purposed apps, including one that will download a complete video;

YouTube to MP3

If you use Linux you can use the youtube-dl command line tool to save just the audio from YouTube video.  I believe that a Windows version is available too. https://ytdl-org.github.io/youtube-dl/index.html
