I come seeking understanding. and know it's here waiting :) would soimeone define the musically terms of grooves shuffles and boogiies with pershaps some traits of each that makes each what it is?
I'm having trouble wrapping my feeble mind around these terms
I am studying chorus forms, after playing temperature in achievement level 2, when listening to you play,I am getting confused I am looking at improvisation study 1, but you talk about licks in four point one and two but there are no licks numbered this in this study. I know I have made a mistake, can you please clarify if I'm looking at the correct PDFs, and where I'm going wrong many thanks jaguar44
I‘m Claus, 48 yrs, and just bought my first blues harmonicas about a month ago. With the help of this great site and Davids great teaching style I am close to finishing (hopefully ;-) level 1 shortly. continue reading...
I'm nearing the ending of feeling for the blues (and yes, bending's been a slow ride but satifying to find and here those bent notes seem to just pop out when all's right) but my hearing doesn't agree with my seeing.
in the 8th bar of 6th chorus my pdf starts out with 3 blow but my mp3 does a quick 3 draw whole step bend then 3 blow. it's tought but I'm getting the movment down slowly.
does my ear deceicve me?
there's no mention of that quick bend on the chorus study lesson, so I'm wondering what I've missed.
In the past i saw a posting that a software called capo with drag and drop feature into an apple computer or iphone helps to identify the key of the the song.
is there anyone who has tried this on their iphone and provide some instruction or recommendations on how to do this with an iphone?
If this isn't a problem with my harmonica, most liked it was already answered, but I couldn't find a search tool, so I'm asking, possibly again.
I just started and I'm still on the first level of LoA, in the middle of the study music, but I noticied something.
Even that I didn't need to draw on the hole 2 yet, just blow, I found out I can't draw on it. The sound gets all weird, almost doesn't sound at all. continue reading...
I have just logged on for the first time and am a complete novice. I bought a C Hohner Special 20 but the first page on Lessons says that a A Harmonica is required. Can you please clarify? Many thanks.
Sorry for the crosspost, but some folks don't view the chromatic forum...
If any of you saw the New Year's Eve Times Square celebration this year, you might have seen Sting perform "Brand New Day" on stage with a young chromatic harmonica player named Shane Sager. If you didn't see it, you can watch it here:
Maybe someone out there can share a best practices tidbit on how they practice their vibrato:
I feel that when I add vibrato to a sustained note, it comes out very staccato-y (choppy each note separate from the other). I would like my vibrato to have a bit more of a legato feel (all notes flow together), since when I hear the material I'm practicing, the vibrato is more of the latter.
Any thoughts on how - or what - to practice to achieve more flow on a vibrato?
