Just experienced the complete interview David done with Annie Raines, oh wow amazing! If you haven't seen, it's a real treat from such an interesting lady.
I started a thread for folks to put down who they'd like David to interview here (has it been almost 10 years already?!?). We got a lot of great responses, and David has interviewed many of them since.
So I got to wonderin'...
What if David interviewed some dead people -- icons of this mysterious art of the harp? continue reading...
I'll ask this hoping nobody's had the nightmare but guessing they have.
i'd messed around trying to bend really ever since I picked up my first harp. now that I've learned the right tecnique here and can bend the notes, I choke in actual song attempts and the tongue wants to revert to humping in the middle.
a bat habit learned over time.
my question: how long and how many bends before muscle memory replaces bad learned habit with good habit and I can get on to playing song?
I am practicing 4-5 nightst per week. Minimum 2+ hours per pracrtice session using all my harmonica's for your levels of achievement program but I am primarily using the A, C and G when I play to backing tracks. How long should these harmonicas last before I should get new ones? I think I remember you saying early on in the LOA sessions that 3 months is a rule of thumb with heavy usage.
wow! bar 6 of feelin for the blues chorus 3 is gon be tough to hit. especially in tune and in time. only recently I learned that somebody was right. early bending trails when you think you're humping the back of the tongue, you're not. humping the middle instead. but once you start to get it, it's awesome feeling to feel the air flow change and rush in the bend
my question: if I have song on mp3 or cd that I want to practice some of the level 3 accompaniment stuff to, is there some way to figure out what key they're doing it in? continue reading...
I wonder how many of you have discovered Davids repertoire builder in Lessons, Level 6 Tongue Blocking 4.5 “Perfect Shade of Blue”. What a great piece. I highly recommended it so check it out. Many thanks David and Sharon.
okay. earnestly working on level 3 study song and the dip has taken days of practice and still it's not there yet. closer though.
I backed up and found the segment on recording software as well, and have been applying the tips to Audacity. still got much to learn there as well recording and playback best way to improve. in the first choruses of "feelin' for the blues" my bends sound more like hens'a layin' in the hen house than the smooth bends. continue reading...
