Im a level 4 player and have always bought Special 20s. My lastest harp is a Bb Suzuki Bluesmaster. I find it much easier to bend than my Hohners. Is that about Suzuki or is it being a Bb that makes it easier. I now have c, a, d, g, d.
I was wondering if the website has been under construction recently. For two days I was unable to raise the site at all. The computer just said "waiting on bluesharmonica.com". Today I was able to reach the site, but had difficulty signing in. It took several tries, but obviously I'm here now. Anyone else experiencing difficulty?
I have been trying to record a rendition of David’s “Passing Time” to share as a celebration at achieving my LOA5. It’s a fast piece and I have been playing it to improve my speed playing. Using Audacity for the recording I found that every time I made a recording my playing was a fraction of a beat slower than the background music. I tried a number of times with the same result. Then I noticed that the backing music in my recording was also showing a fraction late. I recently figured out that the artist performance pieces that David places at the beginning of most interviews is a great place to learn solo harmonica ideas. I pieces that I am working on now are from the solo by Mark Hummel, as well as the full solo by Annie Raines. Mark kept time by tapping his foot so that made it easier to figure out the note values and rhythym. Annie's solo is very soulful, and I can't figure out timing other than to just feel the phrases. Anyone have any ideas including what chord structure that Annie might be following in her head? I k continue reading...

My dream is to someday play with a band again... I was a former sax player not focused on the harp. Im three years in at Level 4.
The pathway to play with band again had not seemed clear until I found out a fellow in my community who has a part time band. Ive heard them play and they are pretty credible. Then I find out this guys has made a few professional recordings and still draws royalties on them, so he's solid. continue reading...
