Hi all, I’m new here and loving the lessons! I just want to ask though, when I’m practising bending, I find it far easier to curl my tongue to get the bend (rather than hump my tongue) - this is how I whistle, and I’m pretty good at whistling! , is this likely to cause me anybissues down the line, or is it just what works for me?

Tongue twister.

I am interested as to how you tongue block and curl bend at the same time. Sorry I can't help but I think this question is for one of the experts.

I curve my tongue slightly

I curve my tongue slightly into a trough even while tongue block bending. I'm not sure that there's an advantage or disadvantage either way. The important things to focus on are the accuracy, sustainability, and tonal fullness of the bend. If curving the tongue helps with those, then it's worthwhile.

You are probably humping as

You are probably humping as well. You just not aware of it.

I do both - humping and "curling" - to make sealed chamber.

At least that is how I imagine it.

I've been trying it out a bit

I've been trying it out a bit to figure out what I'm doing, and I rest a bit of my tongue under my top teeth at the back and end up curling one side more than the other and this leaves me with enough to tongue block. As others have observed, there is some humping going on there too. I'm trying the more conventional just humping the tongue though and I find it a bit easier, as I lose some mobility in the tongue by curling it. If I pucker, it is far easier to curl my tongue though. I'll stick with the conventional way though for now while I'm learning as I don't want to accidentally send myself down a dead end.
