Slaps on hole 1

Posted Tue, 06/09/2020 - 09:04 by EricMina

Hi David I'm looking at Loa2

solo harmonica study 2

Ex 1.4 E and F.

Is there a reason why we do not slap hole 1? Or is just because we need to tongue switch from 1 to 2 or from 1 to 3?

Asking because you said the slap notation will disappear after a while and I'm trying to understand if we never slap the hole 1?

Thank you

Dave

Is this the same as what was presented in Level of Acheivement 1 ?

The link seems to take you to the same material, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Hello Mr. Barrett,

I'm currently in level 1, but I came across your YouTube video, "Sassy Cat" and loved the song. Would it be possible for you to teach that song sometime during one of your lessons?

Thank you,

Travis Norman

Single note melodies sound mechanical

David, thank you for putting together what appears to be a really great online hormonica blues school.  I evaluated several online schools before landing here, and yours is more than just blowing some licks and calling it playing.  I learned more from one of your free evaluation courses than I did 4 week at another online school.  You're really detailed (almost overwelming.) Thanks for adding Music Therory in to the leassons.  This has really helped a lot in understanding why my engineering mind can't grasp the concept of the mathmatical inconsistancies of music. &n continue reading...

Hi David,

I thought that it was enough to study well the technique.

But when I begen to use a metronome I realized that it was very difficult for me.

I hate a metronome :-)

How can I learn to use a metronome? Could you possibly give me some recomendation, please?

Tiziano

Cording lesson 1.2

Posted Fri, 05/29/2020 - 12:12 by Thomas Bosak
Thomas Bosak's picture

When articulating during the cording exercise are you maintaining the tongue block embouchure or are you in a puckering embouchure?

I find it difficult to say Tata and tootoo without my lips and a pucker embouchure. If you're puckering on the cord do you maintain the pucker or do you move to a tongue block, emboucher for the single notes?

Thanks
