TB4 - Octave Slapping

Posted Fri, 06/12/2020 - 11:57 by Cornelius
Cornelius's picture

Hi,

I started looking at TB4, and slaps are no longer notated, but we are expected to generously slap notes without notation.Does this include octaves, or should octaves slapped less often, or never?

I would tend to slap at least the octaves in the middle of the pulls.

Best,

Cornelius

I totally understand how to get the I, IV, and V chord for the key of G. And I understand building the chords using triads. I also understand that once I have the blow and draw holes figured out it's the same on any harp of any key. continue reading...

How to deal with a stuck harmonica during a performance

Hello David,

I have noticed a trend when I play infront of people that it may happen that my harp will get stuck with seliva.

The reason for that is clear for me that simply I stop paying enough attention to my posture and the harp position not pointing up all the time and also perhaps stage fever making me either press my tongue harder against the face of the harmonica or simply blowing harder.

All-and-all I am "more or less" familliar with the reasons for a reed to get jammed with seliva. continue reading...

Slaps on hole 1

Hi David I'm looking at Loa2

solo harmonica study 2

Ex 1.4 E and F.

Is there a reason why we do not slap hole 1? Or is just because we need to tongue switch from 1 to 2 or from 1 to 3?

Asking because you said the slap notation will disappear after a while and I'm trying to understand if we never slap the hole 1?

Thank you

Is this the same as what was presented in Level of Acheivement 1 ?

The link seems to take you to the same material, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Hello Mr. Barrett,

I'm currently in level 1, but I came across your YouTube video, "Sassy Cat" and loved the song. Would it be possible for you to teach that song sometime during one of your lessons?

Thank you,

Travis Norman
