a long time ago i scored an amp from a Model 601 Gaumont-Bell & Howell 16mm movie projector. It took a while to discover exactly what it was. i thought it was a North American amp because the power supply was designed for 110vac. but it turned out to be British. continue reading...

Stuck

Today I started to play my new 270 Bb Chromatic that Steve Malerbi customized for me and discovered the 4 blow wouldn't respond. I was thinking it was a stuck windsaver but when I got the covers off I discovered that a turkey sandwich was wedged on the edge of the reed. I took my reed plinker and gently removed the object and the problem was solved. continue reading...

Egnater rebel 20

I have a chance to buy a guitar amp at cost (sadly they don't have access to harp amp) .

I was looking at the Egnater Rebel 20 and have a cab made with my choice of speaker.

Does it make sense to go in that direction or should I look at a specialty harp amp?

If so, what would be good speakers to go with the Egnater?

Hey there,

I just got a geloso G213 http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/geloso_g213_a_g213a.html

The amp is very loud, but its sounds a bit "thin".

There are 2 12SL7GT tubes in it.
Can I swap it with a 6sl7, or maby a 12sn7?
I got 2 6sn7gtb tubes there, can I try those 2?

I read allot about 12a*7 tubes in harp amps, can i swap them? maby with a "adapter" or something.
And what brand would be the best/would you recommend

What would be the best preamp tubes to get more bass?

And it also got 2 6V6G tubes in my geloso. continue reading...

Good day to everyone, my name is Santiago, i just bought a hohner golden melody and i love how it sounds, also i am a beginner and i am afraid of ''breaking'' it for not doing a good job while i play, i have heard that it can happen if u don't make good bends and things like that, and right now i am afraid of even touching it since i cant afford buying harmonicas every month.

I know that the harmonicas don't have a long life as many other instruments, but you know what i mean, i don't want to buy a new harmonica every 1 or 2 months. continue reading...

Mic Shell Observation

For years i have been using the same EV605 shell, fitted with a 99B86 CM. I just obtained a JT30 with a 99H86 CM, and have been comparing the 2.
the element in the EV is definitely 'hotter'; by which i mean louder, more prone to feedback, bigger bottom, which tends to overwhelm the mids, distorts more readily. the JT30 is much sweeter, more musical.

Elements vary. I've heard it said often, so there is no surprise there. continue reading...

Has anyone tried a harp with black corian comb? It's synthetic, by dupont. I have one on order to try it. Wondering if anyone's experienced it yet?

Forgetting ease of customization and price, can I get some opinions on these three instruments from anybody? I would appreciate it.
