Hi
Does anyone know if the Fender Super champ X2 will sound the same as the Super champ XD using the clean channel?

Thanks

plug in

G'day BC,
they are the same idea, solid state preamp driving a tube output stage.
it looks like the preamp voices are different, they line up with the Mustang series rather than the SCXD, which leads me to think its probably a different preamp chip.

the 'clean' on the SCXD is pretty much the same as SCXD voice 4...which they call 'clean blackface'. this is the same amp model as described for the clean channel on the SCX2, so chances are it will sound very similiar.

apart from anything else, the SCX2 looks pretty versatile, especially if you are interested in using it to record. and some of those amp voices look like they should really be more harp friendly than the SCXD voices, many of which are unusable for harp. i think you may have a couple more you can use.
if it was me, i'd plug it in and try it out.

I love this amp, I think channel 2 with the voicing are good if you want a cool sound and still be at a low level. I really like the clean channel with a touch of reverb, eBay for 200. It's a keeper.

XD post

Actually, it's the XD I bought off e-bay, I was looking for one of those Nifty-Fifty's when I read David's comment on them. I think they are the best priced small amp out there. XD's have a great sound, and... you can always trade it in for 5 harmonicas at your local music store.
