I'm totally new to amplified harmonica and am using a Hohner HarpBlaster HB52. When there is a pause in my playing the mic picks up a residual "ringing" of the reeds. Is this something that isn't really a problem because in the context of a band it would never be heard (like the hum of single coil guitar pickups) or do people use noise gates to knock it out.?Or another likely possibility: I am doing something wrong.
This summer I'll be playing with a small outfit in a bar in Italy. I have sat in with them before, a few years ago, but back then I didn't have a VC on my mic (which I do now, thanks to bluexlab) and I ran through the PA which caused some issues with feedback or general volume. How I wanted an amp then. I still do, to leave the PA for the singer and not run into issues with phantom power etc. continue reading...
I'm interested in knowing about a pedal that eliminates amp feedback. I know about the Lone Wolf Harp Shield, but I'm looking for something cheaper that still gives good results. I have a cheap tube amp, an American Joyo pedal, and a Hohner HB52 microphone.
I'm looking at upgarding from my Shure MV5 USB microphone, replacing it with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen audio interface to use with a Shure SM57 microphone for recaording of my amplifier to GarageBand.
Curious whether anyone here has experience with the Focusrite Scarlett and any other recommendations.
I ordered a Windy City Plus amplifier and need to decide whether to fit it with a Weber or Eminence speaker. The Windy City Plus equipment review here was fitted with an Eminence. I've listened to a number of youtube videos, but most don't mention the speaker selection. The one that did mention the Weber sounded excellent as did all the other videos. continue reading...

Hi,
I am relatively new to amplified harp. I have a small (8W) tube amp and a large (55/60W) tube amp and whatever settings I use I still seem to get more volume out of the small amp before feedback kicks in. Am I missing something? Will the bigger amp become less prone to feedbaack with use or maybe my technique needs to improve? I've also tried standing in different positions in relation to the amp.
I want to by a new B flat harp and have previously gone exclusively for Hohner, mostly the Crossover. I fancy trying another brand and wonder if anyone can recommend a different brand/model?
Hand-wired Holmes Harp Commander III from 2007 for sale. Engineered by Ron Holmes. Great harmonica interface with control of harmonica sound direct to a PA, or for use in recording.
Basically, it's a pre-amp and DI box all-in-one. The unit provides control over feedback, and offers a fine degree of tone shaping. Currently running on two 9-volt batteries but can be used with a wall adapter as well, not included.
