Sorry guys, I'm completely new here, and to the harmonica overall. I only have a C harmonica, and one of the descriptions when registering mentioned that there were introductory lessons for the C harmonica, but I can't seem to find them. Help please :)

YAMAHA CHROMATIC HARMONICA NO.-1200

Hi,

I was given an unused YAMAHA CHROMATIC HARMONICA NO.-1200 recently and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the model. A google search brings up quite little except they haven't been made for a while (decade or more) and any reviews were vaguely negative.

Being completely new to chromatic I'm wondering if it is worth using or if, despite the freebee, I should invest in a 270 or CX12 to do my learning on.

Thanks for your time.

Blues Blaster mic not available?

I was just window shopping for a Blues Blaster as a starter mic for a beginner, but kept finding 'no longer available' on Amazon etc.

Is this right or have I just been unlucky in my choice of websites?

Also what would anyone suggest as an alternative starter mic for the uninitiated.

forScore Software for IPad

Definitely worth a look for IPad users. Imports scores, transcripts, lyrics in a number of formats using ITunes on the computer as the 'transfer' point. You can then attach a sound file from your IPad ITunes list and it plays as you pracise from the music sheet. Adjustments for speed are 1X, 3/4X and 1/2X. A sweet feature in the new version is that you can'train' it to flip to the next page as you play based on the attached sound file. Very easy to use and right now, its my 'go to' app for travel practise.

Definitely worth checking out.

Bassman vs Peavy Classic 50

Since watching the Bassman Chronicles, I have been keeping an eye out for a used Bassman, but have found there are not a lot of them showing up on my local craigslist and the ones I find elsewhere are a bit out of my price range especially if it needs mods.  A local music shop has a used Peavy Classic 50, 410 for sale.  I've looked for comparisons online, but have only found reviews by guitar players.

Does anyone have any experience with that amp and how it compares to a Bassman relative to harps and any necessary modifications?

Whittner - MT -60 metronome/pitch reference?

or do I go through ronimusic where I got my Amazing Slow Downer?

I can't wait to get one.  thanks...

Vox AC10c1

im wondering if anyone has any experience its this amp. It's on the newer side as far as reissues go from vox and I haven't seen much from harp players about it. I tried one out recently and was pleasantly surprised by the tone I was able to get out of it, but am hoping to do a little follow up research in hopes of identifying any potential problem areas I haven't thought of In my search for an amp of similar size. Any thoughts on this?

Amp Feedback

Posted Fri, 08/14/2015 - 08:15 by harpman23

I've got a custom amp that was built based on the Fender Princeton circuit and swapped out the 12ax7's in v1 and v2 for a 12ay7 in v1 and a 5751 in v2 in order to reduce the gain that was causing a ton of feedback at volume setting just about 3. That seemed to work because I could get the volume setting to about 6 without any feedback.  Using a bullet mic with a shure element (similar to the Huemann elements) but when I took the amp to a jam I was still getting some feedback at moderately decent setting of 4 with control knob on the mic at about 1/4. continue reading...
