I found an old post of Kinya's when I was digging through the forum the other day and decided I wanted to try it. He said you could take a comb out of Hohner's children's harmonicas and put them in a special 20 because they fit. So I ordered a purple one and he was totally right. It did fit, and it plays just like before. But now I think also looks awesome in addition to playing awesome!
I predominantly play Suzuki Manjis but decided to splash out and have a harp customised. Neil Graham ( http://www.neilgraham.com.au/ ) was recommended to me. Neil is a Hohner affiliated customiser who lives on the south coast of NSW so if there are any Australians on the forum, I can recommend his work. The base harp is a Marine Band Deluxe. Needless to say I am very happy with the result. Great work and many thanks Neil.
Hey all. I figured out a way to make the hand-wah huge! And bring hand-wah techniques back to closed back mics!
Before the SPAH conference I posted a video demonstrating some new harp sensor technology ideas, which I collectively called The Cyborg Harmonica, and I presented all of it again in a seminar there. The seminar and the tech I presented were pretty well received overall, but there was particular interest in the electronic hand-wah I am now calling the J-Wah. continue reading...

Hello Everyone,

Hi there, I think of buying a Fireballmic. Now there are two models on the market, same price. The Fireball V has a volume control. Has anyone experience using them or can help me which to choose?
I didn't want to hijack the thread on the special 20 customization, so started this one instead.
I have had bad luck with two Seydel Classics now - leaky sounding draw notes on holes 3 & 4. The first one I bought with this issue was in A, and after a chat with their (very friendly and service-minded!) customer service, I sent it back for adjustment. It played like a dream when it came back! continue reading...
This year MegaTone Amps is celebrating its 10 year anniversary of the WEZO harmonica amp. For those interested in how it all started, you can hear the story here and see a blog post I did about the history of our first model the WEZO-45. continue reading...
As a recommendation of David I bought the Danelectro Echo Pedal and used it together with my Laney Cub 10 amp. Unfortunately the pedal doesn’t work anymore and I read a review, that this happens often, cause the production is bad by its cold solder. In German music shops there are just a view pieces left. Therefore I’m looking for an alternative pedal. Which type would be a good recommendation?
Hi all, I recently saw Magic Dick play with Shun Ng and noticed he had a very simple set up - one of Greg Heumann's ultimate 58s right into the TC Helicon Mic Mechanic and into the PA system. It was a small venue and he switched often between chromactic and diatonic. Very clean sound and great tone (although you know it's Magic Dick so a lot of that is his decades of playing).
I'm just curious if anyone else has used the Mic Mechanic as a pre-amp to go straight into the PA? Of if there are other similar set ups that you have used to plug into a PA? continue reading...
