I got my start learning harmonica from the J P Allen series of DVDs. J P has always been a strong endorser of the Hohner Special 20 for beginners. He has had some recent negative experience with the Special 20 (and also the Suzuki Manji) which has resulted in his current recommendation of Lee Oskar for beginners (and Seydel 1847 overall but $$$). continue reading...
Hey folks, if you are in the market for a customized piece of art for your band, your profile picture(s), forum avatar, event logo or more, a friend of mine just made a design for me and it came out fantastic! His name is Jason Simon and his website is at https://www.simplesimongd.com/. Tell him Brett sent you if you inquire about a piece. Here is the customized piece he made for me.
I've been using my iPhone Voice Memo app to record my LOA submissions, but it saves audio in .m4a format rather than .mp3, and I'm finding it a bit of a pain to convert for submission. Can anybody recommend either a reliable app that records in .mp3, or a convenient way to make the file conversion?
i'm listening to alot of Muddy Waters and Little Walter lately. And its pretty easy to find Stuff and How To'S on YouTube to different songs and licks and so on.
But i cant find anything related to Harmonica about the Song "Blue and Lonesome"
Im talking about the part he is playing at 1:40min
What Key of Harmonica is he playing in? And how does he "create" this sound? Tongue splits? I think he uses alot of flutter but thats all i could figure out at my state of knowledge. continue reading...

I have a question about the Amazing Slow Downer. I have not purchased the program yet, but I want to try to manage my expectations. I use a Macbook Pro with no CD drive. I can import the BH study songs into iTunes, so I don't think I would have any issues dragging the study songs into ASD and having it work. continue reading...
I am a beginner with a good knowledge of musical theory and I have recently bouhgt a harmonica. I am here since I am entitled to a month free trial, which I think is great.
The problem is that I am not really committed (yet, at least). I have played different instruments, but now I just tentatively strum chords on my guitar. It's easy to master and quite enough to sing along. And this is what I though playing the harmonica could be. But I got blocked soon by tone... blocking. It is not so easy :)... But still; let me see if I can put my question clearly... continue reading...
