Hohner is such a weird company. You go to the USA website and find descriptions of harps and videos of people talking more than playing, but the company doesn't even sell its harps on their own site. Their plastic-like harp case, available at a leading commercial site, looks like total junk. They don't sell any kind of mic anymore. Their good diatonic harps, like Crossovers, are abusrdly priced at around $80. Great, I'll run right out and buy three in every key. continue reading...

Fellow harpists,
The song, The Creeper or The Creeper Returns (Finger Lickin' Good by Charlie Musselwhite) has been coming up often in my playlists recently. The tune is almost always in the key of B or Bm I guess. It sounds like a great tune to let loose on and play with the band. continue reading...
hi. I am a month old newbie to this site and tounge blocking and thus far love it, but I'm missing something in technique. in holes 1 and 2 both blow and draw I'm leaking air from the left corner of my mouth. tried deeper into mouth, not as deep, pressing harder (read in a different thread that's the reason corners of mouth getting sore so working on that) changing angle of harmonica and angle of harmonica in relation to face, as well as trying to seal the end of harmonica with corner of mouth which does not work well either.
I have just returned from a 20 day visit to Japan. Three days into the trip and I went into severe withdrawal symptoms. My wife had convinced me that practice on the Bullet train and busking was not acceptable or allowed in Japan so had left my harp at home. The solution was a trip to a major musical instrument store. continue reading...
Oh man, I've just sat through David's interview and insight with Bob Corritore, totally amazed with it. I feel privaleged to have been able to listen in on a fantastic life.
Bob has not only had first hand experience with a number of great players which has given him a wealth of experience but he also has a business head on him for turning his love into a career.
Very interesting and it has unravelled a bit more for me.

Feels like I should at least say something before throwing out questions. New person here. I have been working on Level 1 for about 2 months now. I am finally getting the second page of "Walk with me" under control - meaning I can actually play it. Not with the music or anything, but I feel like it is in reach. My goal is to test by EOM April
I have no musical education, but that is not going to stop me from this goal. Having a great time, but I fear I will never play that song again once I master it. continue reading...
I've just been through all of the work associated with Acc Study 3 and the study song, wow I'm blown away with the whole realisation of how the chords I IV & V work in relation to the holes and how those chords can be applied to a tune.
Loving the Blues Creepin' Over Me track and I'm going to make that a goal to play at a jam track in the near future with a singer.
As the title says, I'd like to hear a song done using a higher key harmonica like F or D regardless of the genre, though I prefer non-blues stuff. :)
So far almost all the harmonica songs I have gathered are in lower keys especially the blues ones, as most blues players seem to totally dislike the upper register of low key harmonicas let alone using a higher key harmonica for entire song. I wonder why is this though? Is it because harmonica doesn't sound good in higher pitches?
