Tongue Block Study 1 Sheet Music In the Wrong Key?

Posted Tue, 03/15/2022 - 11:52 by WillShattuck

Hi just joined. I used to play clarinet and sax and was a music teacher.

I'm doing Tongue Block Study 1 Walk With Me and I'm confused. The instructions at the top say Key of E but the sheet music is in Key of C. Yes I know that each harmonica has the same patterns for scales but why not use  the correct key For the notes?

im going to have to use the Tabs instead of notes because it's messing with my musical sensibilities. Lol. :-)

theory on playing octaves verses double stops

Posted Mon, 03/14/2022 - 05:44 by Monty Wheeler

I've just learned that there's a thing called double stops similar to playing the split octaves?   I want to delve into that now remembering an early exercise in playing octaves but I can't recall which level that exercise was in.

my question: when to play octaves verses the thing called double stops which to my understanding would be playing two more disonnant notes at a time?

the when to use which or does it matter?  which to practice for greatest effect?

Has anyone out there figured out how to play something acceptable for San Francisco Bay Blues. I could use some ideas. I am playing it, (well, sort of), in 2nd position and there are a couple of places where nothing is available, to my ear. Help ifn ya can.

Probably a silly question but a week after signing up for 1 month free access, I got a cold and am leary about using the harmonica. Do you folks continue to practice or wait until you recover?

Hello,

absolute beginner here. While practicing tongue blocking (I am at level of achievement 1 step 1 still after a forced break) i recognized, that i have poblems not to breath a bit through the nose simultaneously to drawing and blowing and so far I was not able to get it under control (only by manually closing my nose). Are there any tricks/advice on how to stop that?

Bending

So, I first learned bending using lip pursing, which came pretty easy for me,

I'm having a harder time bending using the Tounge Blocking, do you still use only tongue blocking

or is it kinda like a combination?
