Using iPad as dedicated study device

Posted Wed, 09/23/2020 - 11:30 by mtnhank

I am some overwhelmed by all of the material presented in Level 1. So I am considering using a dedicated iPad for my harmonica study. It will be a huge advantage to have everything in one spot. I seem to spend more time looking for stuff than I do actually working on it.

If you or students have ipad recommendations I would love to hear them. Also which models might be suitable, especially older models due to cost.

I know if I were a better organizer, that would help; so maybe some suggestions about how to organize stuff would also be helpful.

Thanks, continue reading...

Solo Harmonica study 1

Good Morning David,

I have been practicing quite a lot the Solo Harmonica Study 1 examples over the complete 12 bar blues form, but when it comes to the 4 chord in the progression, I would like to play something different to match the 4chord. Can I just "reverse" the blows and draws in the chording example I am using for the 1chord and then will it match the 4chord when it appears in bar 5 & 6 and then return to the i chord example in bars 7 & 8? I hope this is not off topic.  Thx JT

I just bought a new C  Hohner Special 20 harmonica, I searched from several sources recommended for new players starting with the C key. I discovered from your course that using A key. Such a waste. Any suggestions ? Or should I buy another A key? Most of your courses are written in A key.

Laney is replacing CUB 10 with Cub Super 10

David:

Laney is replacing CUB 10 with Cub Super 10.

Cub 10s are vanishing. Vendors are taking orders for Cub Super 10 for "soon" delivery.

Cub Super 10 has more controls, but only one input.

Biggest change is with Power Tubes (going from 2 x ECC83 to 1 x EL84).

I posted to Ask Amp Tech Expert Skip Simmons asking what the tube change might mean for sound, but

I was wondering if I should get one of the last Cub 10s, or wait for the Cub Super 10. continue reading...

Walk with me/Matching sheet music notes to the Harmonica

Posted Wed, 09/16/2020 - 08:15 by Cristy

Hi, I bought a C harmonica and learned the notes (C to C / 4-7 holes).

I got an A harmonica to take these lessons and I have been looking at the sheet music.

The first not is B. - but the first note (tab type, at the bottom) is 3.  (G# and E according to charts is on 3.)

Is there something I can read to understand why? Or should I just blow what it says on the bottom and it will work itself out

as I progress?
