Its possible I can anwser my question in futur but....

I memorize my pitch and scale degree on C harmonica but its first position. If I whant to improvise with a licks inside 12 bars, I have to memorize the scale degree for second and third position C harmonica? I supose 90 % of my play is sec position. If I grab a licks I need to write him in sec position scale degree to be able to play correctly with chords I-IV-V or just construct something interresting to listen. Do you whant I memorize all position scale degree?

Thank you continue reading...

Hey David.

In Level 1,2,3 and 4 you get Music theory study 1 (Section 1,2,3,4)

Is there a difference between those lessons? They are the same?

Cheers,

Bernd

pedals Recommendation

Good evening David,

Im looking for a new pedal to add to my amp. Do you have new recommendations since your videos? I see Boss has an RV-6 now with a Reverb+delay setting. Is this model still good for harp? If you are familiar with it does it cover both a delay and reverb?

Thanks,

Mark

Slow Tempo licks placed in up tempo music

Good evening David,

If I try and play licks from study songs which are slow and then try and place them in the music from study songs which are faster in tempo, they dont seem to feel right. Is there anything which I can do to make them fit or feel right. The reason I ask this question is because I really like the faster paced music i.e music from the split more than the slower music but want to use as many licks as I can from all the study songs. Hope this makes sense.

Kind Regards,

Paul

Playing with better dynamics

Hi David, looking for some tips on controlling dynamics in my playing. When I play it sounds ok in my head, but when I record it and listen back, it's pretty much all the same level. Also really struggling with things that are supposed to be more legato and making them flow.

single notes with tongue?

Hey David

I am enjoying the few video's I've seen, now I'm trying to get used to tongue blocking.

Now my question, I'm practicing playing single notes in Folk tunes (C harmonica beginner) with the tongue blocking. From here on out am I supposed to play single notes only while tongue blocking?

Or am i supposed to do it without in the next lesson home sweet home and tremolo?

If I do have to do it with tongue blocking i need to get one of those tongue block trainers u talked about and practice because it's hard :)

Friendly Regards

Smooth runs when blow notes alternate with draw notes

Hi Dave,  I hope I can ask this question in a way that makes sense.  I hear harp players play quickly through some series of notes.  I can figure out which notes they're playing, but they involve a combination of blow and draw notes, for example, 4 (draw), 4 (blow), 3 (draw), 3 (blow).  When I try to copy them, I can't get a smooth sound because I'm inhaling and exhaling, not just running down a series of notes.  Is there a trick to how musicians play these licks?

hi Basic,  bought my first harmonica 'hohner special20 C' before getting on your site

can i continue without buying a new keyA model as u recommend? the crossoverA is an expensive model for me.

recommended right hand position: do the last 2 fingers of left hand drop when right hand is put on. how many finger tips is showing in right hand hole.
