Dealing With Excess Saliva

Posted Sat, 03/14/2015 - 23:24 by harpsquealer

Hey all,

When I play a lot of excess saliva builds up in the harmonica, so much so that I have to tap the saliva out. Have any of you encountered this problem and how have you dealt with it?

Thanks,

harpsquealer

New Marine Band

I purchased a new MB and it sounds great. This is my first MB. Prior to this I played SP20's almost exclusively. I have found that the MB comb is slightly abrasive on my tongue. Will my tongue just get used to the new feel? Thanks.

Hi guys-

Just want to let you know what I have been looking for a copy of this wonderful book for the longest. Just came across a website this morning who has the book in stock. Not sure how reliable they are but I ordered a copy anyway. I thought some of you might be interested, too. Here is the link:

Transferring from pucker bending to tongue blocking bending

Hi All

I'm a returning harmonica player after about a 15 year break.

I used to play with a Pucker (unless playing a Octave etc)

I'm having trouble bending wi the tongue block. I find that I can pucker bemd still with just a few weeks of practice after the long layoff, however I am finding to get the bend to initiate with the tongue on the harmonica is proving more troublesome.

I have managed to bend the draw on the second hole on the A harp but just can't seem to get my tongue/mouth/jaw into the same position.  continue reading...

Unusual question, but serious

I was listening to a recording of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee playing

'Midnight Special'.........2 questions...

1. What is the ' Midnight special ' ?..is it a train ?

2. Why does he want it to 'shine its ever loving light on me' ?

( I know this is a popular song, but for some reason as I was enjoying

their version of it and these questions came to mind)

Thank you for your time continue reading...

Hi all

I'd just like to thanks David Barrett for this amazing website.

I have tried to learn blues harmonica in the past (about 15 years ago) before we had the internet/youtube and Skype and had to use the odd tuition book and cd Combination.

I played/learned for about three or four years building a nice collection of Lee Oskar and Steve Weston/Brendan Power customised Marine Bands/cx10s continue reading...

Expensive!

Who ever said harmonica was a cheap hobby? Harmonicas are getting a bit pricey, if you noticed. Seems like I blow out a reed about every 2 or 3 months on my favorite harps and have it repaired ($20 a shot) or buy a new one. Any penny pinchers out there who can give me advice?

I have a question ?? How come you post a topic and everybody is reluctant to respond ??? I was hoping this would be a site where we could discuss and gather tons of info and just talk harmonica ??? Maybe we are all bashful . I am not trying to tick folks off just trying to get folks to talk
