Can someone please tell me how to play the lick John is playing at 2:08 in this video??? He's playing it in the second chorus of his solo, over the IV chord, Measures 5 and 6. I've listened a thousand times and I can't tab it out. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hello All, and huge thanks to David for creating this site! I have only just begun on the LOA and although having considered myself a long time serious student, this has been a beautiful and excruciating lesson in what I dont know. All these years playing to the greats and reading and listening everything with much study, all by ear, without the most important ingredient. Music theory! Ugh...A true life lesson in there. continue reading...

Much is said about Little Walter, and rightly so. But man, tune into Sonny Boy II. This guy played exclusively acoustic, as far as I know. Still, his tone is outstanding. It never gets old for me. And his licks are so catchy and infectious. You'll be humming them all day.

Every year SPAH bestows three awards to great harmonica players. If you’re a member, you can nominate someone. The SPAH board will then discuss the nominees and vote.

Guys when we play draw notes we have the "kha" throat sound that can keep our playing nice and sharp and rythmic. What about on blow notes? We do have the slap, which helps a great deal but I'm af afraid I overuse it, which tends to make my playing sound a little sloppy and "drunken".
Try and listen to John Nemeth, Daughter of the Devil, from Blues Live. The opening lick is 5draw 4 blow 4 blow. He hits those 4 blows so hard and sharp. He's definitely slapping then but I hear more. It's almost a cough.
I play the guitar and I just started learning how to play Blues Harp with David. I'd like to know which in your opinion are the best websites for learning blues guitar since I'd like to play blues on my guitar so I can jam with my harmonica.
Practicing my bends and getting better with time, practice, experimentation and harp ninja. After watching numerous interviews here everyone seems to agree the best practice to get the bend and hear if it's correct on your own is to use the bend in a familiar song. Can everyone recommend good basic beginner songs with tab to learn bends?
There is a version of sweet home chicago performed by a gentleman by the name of Haken Ehn. Its by far one of my favorite renditions of the song. In case you haven't heard it, check out his youtube vid:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbrsNWp8GIo
I'm curious if there is anyone out there who's willing to help me get the few riffs of the song transcribed. I'm pretty sure he's on an A harp and he starts off with: ? ? ? 3-4 shake 3+ 2+ 3+ continue reading...
