bending while tongue blocking

I find it difficult to switch from tongue blocking with the slaps and quickly switching to pursing to achive bending.  Is there a location where I can learn bending with tonguing OR how to switch back and forth from pursing to bend and tongue blocking.

Unwanted delay transitioning from 3 draw to 3 blow

Howdy folks!

I bought my first harmonica (Hohner Special 20 in A) last month and became a member of this site.I'm working on level 1 of the Levels of Achievement lessons. More specific, the "Walk with me" tongue blocking song/excercise.I noticed that when I play a 3 blow after a 3 draw the note doesn't sound immediately but there's some kind of delay.

It almost feels likes the air has to build up some pressure before the reed starts vibrating...

Holes 2 and 3 are the hardest to play for me. I'm probably doing something wrong here. continue reading...

Search for Jam Tracks

Hey everybody!

I've been looking for blues jam tracks to practice my composition and improvising skill.

Did anybody knew where I can find those? Or can anybody recommend something?

I've bought the jam track album "Every Groove A Bluesman needs to know" from Jimi Lee couple of years ago.

I'm looking forward to your answers!

Greetings

Using Books Alongside the Online Course

Over time, I’ve picked up several of your books, but I’ve found that the online course works much better for how I learn.

I was wondering if there’s a way to integrate the books with the BluesHarmonica.com course, or if they’re designed to be used independently.

For reference, I currently have:

  • Classic Chicago Blues Harp #1
  • Scales, Patterns & Bending #1
  • Blues Harmonica Jam Tracks & Soloing Concepts #1
  • Basic Blues Harmonica Method

I’d appreciate any guidance on how to best use these alongside the course. continue reading...

This is Mark's 35th year of his "Blues Harmonica Blowout" tour. Just two shows left. Check out his website, and if you can make one or the other of these last two shows before he goes off to Europe, don't miss it.

Last night friends (including one great harp player) and I drove over an hour to the closest of this year's tour venues. RJ Mischo, Curtis Salgado and Magic Dick on this year's tour, along with Steve Freund, Anson Funderburg, Wes Starr and Rodrigo Montovani in the band. An incredible show. continue reading...

Earworm?

Given that tomorrow is Groundhog Day, curious: What harmonica melody to you hear over and over, on repeat, in your head these days?

Working up Lee McBee's "Twelve Hours From You" for an on stage performance later this year, so that's all I can hear in my head. (Maybe interrupted once in a while by "Juke.")

Hi all and happy new year,

Does anyone know if it's possible to do the same thing as David does with Finale where the chords above the stave are replaced with roman numeral chord names, in MuseScore?

I'm working on my Level 5 submission requirements, specifically the one-hole per chorus accompaniment study 5. Any suggestions for a jam track that supports all 10 holes/choruses?

Thanks,

John

What was the first song you heard with harmomica on it that made you want to learn harp?

Mine was "Hey! Baby" by Bruce Channel the Delbert McClinton on harp.
