bending while tongue blocking
I find it difficult to switch from tongue blocking with the slaps and quickly switching to pursing to achive bending. Is there a location where I can learn bending with tonguing OR how to switch back and forth from pursing to bend and tongue blocking.
Giarc:
I second Graham. As Dennis Gruenling famously says (including on his great tee-shirts), "If you ain't blocking, you ain't rocking."
Through David's lesson series, you'll move to puckering, if at all, soley on the 1-hole. Even David himself took a lot of time transitioning from puckhering to tongue-blocking on blowbends on the 8, 9 & 10. But take the time. It's worth it. While once in a while puckering will be the right thing to do, 95% or more of the time, tongue-blocking, including bends and blow-bends, will give you an invaluable harmonica vocabulary. Possibly by spending only 10 minutes each day. Puckerning is definetly not "just for sissies," but on both diatonic and chromatic, to learn to use tongue-blocking for nearly everything will open up broad new worlds. And you may very well be surprised how easy the transition is.
