Hello

I started the course with great enthusiasm through the LOA at the end of 2024. Before that, I had only played for three months and without any tongue block. By July 2025, I had completed level 7. Then summer came and I stopped. When I returned from vacation, I started jam sessions for the first time, and the possibility of forming a duo arose. The thing is, I abandoned it that July and only read the forum a little. I've noticed how my progress has stalled, even though I've improved in other areas. We continue with duo rehearsals; I try to sing as well as play the harmonica... I'm definitely learning. But I've decided to reconnect with LOA 8, and I'm finding it hard to get started. I remember that in the accompaniment section of that level, I didn't quite understand what was required.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Strongly advise

Well done on achieving level 7. That would indicate commitment. I would strongly suggest you pose you question directly to David  to get you kick started again.

Step back, enjoy starting some things over

Mon1979:

In an earlier life, and before taking up harmonica, I was a competitive cyclist and distance runner. It was my experience that when injury or other circumstances kept me from training or competing, going a number of steps back, i.e., "starting over" from an easier level, paid dividends. And accellerated my getting back in shape.

Interestingly, a number of books about practice and learning that David has cited in the past say essentially the same thing when it comes to musical pursuits.

So pick up with stuff you really liked in, say, Levels 4, 5, and 6. Pretty soon you'll find you're hitting Level 8 with a running start!
