Hi All,

I've just started learning harmonica and have been experiencing left-sided TMJ pain while attempting lesson 1.1 Tongue Agility. Anyone else experience this? Are there any exercises that may lessen the discomfort?

Thanks.

Snake oil jam track

Love this song, but no jam track available.  Problem solved with Audacity.   I was able to remove the harmonica and keep most of the remaining sound by splitting the stereo track, inverting one of them, and then recombining.  Not perfect, but pretty good.

Are some harps easier to bend than others

Hope so

As a beginner i bought a suzuki promaster ,its a heavy and decent harp and i got it knowing i cant blame the tools should i struggle to learn. Then i got a hohner marine band in key of A to participate on thise site.

I am reasonably happy with my slow progress and know the harps are perfectly capable so its the operator (me) who is the weakest link.

But i noticed some harmonicas are sold as blues harps ,easy to bend etc etc ,brass reeds etc etc. continue reading...

Drawn notes and the beginner

I have seen many post and videos that document that some beginners have problems with the 2 draw amoung other drawn notes as I did.  Some early lessons discuss breating and I was left with the impression that you basicly breath through the harmonica.  I then watched many other videos, including Joe Filisko's ones about breathing.  I thought about what I was doing with the drawn notes that caused me problems.  Came to the conclusion that sometimes I was trying to get a drawn note with my lungs already full.  I sounded very stained. continue reading...
