Hello Everyone,

I am a bit lost among the site's lessons. Can somebody point me in the right direction: just finished the Tongue block study 1. What do I do next? Does it matter?

cheers,

Gregorski

I am just starting out. I bought  C harmonica  ( Hohner Blues band), but do I need to get an A harmonica for the studies?

Finding the Best Teacher

I've been re-reading Daniel Coyle's great The Little Book of Talent. His take on finding a great teacher?

1. Avoid Someone Who Reminds You of a Courteous Waiter.

2. Seek Someone Who Scares You a Little.

3. Seek Someone Who Gives Short, Clear Directions.

4. Seek Someone Who Loves Teaching Fundamentals.

5. Other Things Being Equial, Pick the Older Person. **

Does this list sound like anyone we all know and admire?

** I'm 73, so No. 5 is sort of n/a for me.

Just finished (from a public library source) Barbara Dane's new autobiography, This Bell Still Rings: My Life of Defiance and Song. Now 96 years old, Dane is still active, and shares her amazing musical and social activism history in her book.

Quite a few blues connections in her life, including:

Promoting Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee in the SF Bay area early in their partnership.

Working with blues greats like Lightnin' Hopkins.

Recording great blues, including work with Willie Dixon. continue reading...

Hi everyone

Im a beginner and have been picking up the lessons really quick (probably due to my previous failed attempts to learn the harmonica over the years) but recently I run into a road block. When trying to do chorus 2 on song 1 I noticed that I cant make a sound on hole 1 drawing. I have no problem with any other hole. I have two harmonicas, a special 20 from a few years ago and a brand new golden melody so I dont think its the harmonica. I assume it's my technique. Any tips? continue reading...
