I record my version of Bye Bye Bird. I use low C  Hohner Crossover Harmonica and amplifier.

 

What do you think about this recording?  Thanks for comments.... I accept any criticism.

This early amateur recording recorded by me using a tubed guitar preamp VOX pedal.

Also I used a non-tubed Orange guitar amplifier.

The headphone output of Orange amp plugged into PC line in for direct recording.

Mic was a Shure DX520.

And lot of practicing on a Hohner MS A Harp before recording :-)

Track was completely created by me regarding all the notes.

I took part in a real live track recording of my local friends' band called "Black Cat".

My task as a beginner was placing mics and plugging to sound mixer and the post-processing of recorded sound tracks.

We had a professional mixer mate who delivered all the recording techs and set equalizer of the raw tracks.

Recording was completed in two steps:

- base backtracks recorded first: drums, solo and bass guitars

- vocal and harmonica next time listening the backtrack by earphones using high filter for recording continue reading...

I'm literally a harp player beginner, so I have to say sorry not to put a composition of mine here. Just a meeting with friends and wishing to play with them. One of them is playing an Ukulele and another plays an acoustic nylon strings guitar. So I've showed them a simplified song structure, you know, the way I've found, writing notes in a piece of paper. Improvisation trial

Hi,

This recording was made before I have started this school... in my very amateur ages.

I made a decision to make an absolute improvisation recording using a backtrack I have only listened partly (few seconds of it) immediately before the recording.

My focus was very on the backtrack to follow up the basic notes and create something "hm" very nice.

It is not professional but somehow I like this because I tried to feel the music in my heart.

I was asked to sit-in with a group that plays Carter Family material. The melody singer wasn't able to attend so I had to cram and perform the style as best I could in two weeks. I tried to stay respectful to the genre with both my accompaniment & solos. Although I was  pushed for time, which was nerve racking, it ended up being a great learning experience. I just finished the recording of my latest track called "the one". the harmonica is quite prominent soloing in the middle of the songe (1.32), but also with chords backing the verses. the most challenging process this time was shortening again and aigain to keep the tension. i know this is again not a bluestrack but maybe you like it either. all you hear is made at home all alone. available again on soundcloud and my website (transmissionfromearth.ch). continue reading...

Kinya talked me into tuning my own "Paddy Richter Harp"by raising the 3 blow a whole step. I got this tuning for Irish Songs from Brendan Power & Kinya helped me with the how. I had never retuned a harp but I somehow managed to get it done! Here's my first tune with a Paddy Richter Harp. I just moved to a small town in the Sierra mountains where they play alot of fiddle songs. I love this tune but I'm not Irish so my timing might be off slightly. I had to drink a few Guinness Beers to get close to right! I hope you like it.
