Portable Amp

Do you know of an amp that is battery operated (and A/C of course) portable, with MIC and AUX inputs, preferable volume control for each input, maybe has at least a reverb effect and puts out a good bass sound?  I just looked at a Pignose 20 that is 20W with a special larger battery, but it only has 1 volume control and  no effects. I have a Roland Mobile which meets these specs to a degree but is only 4W with 2 4" speakers and is sort of weak on sound quality.  Any ideas would be helpful. THanks!

Is it generally safe to run a 2.67 ohm speaker load from a 2 ohm output on an amp?

Blues Junior 4

Hi,

I have a Blues Junior 4, latest model, which is greatly modernised from previous models, I have changed the pre amp tubes to a 55% less gain set from Watford Valves.

I have a Bulletini mic and a Hohner Harpblaster mic.

I would like to know what settings to use to get a nice warm tone from this amp with these mics , or what else to do to it, its not a bad amp but just needs tweaking .

Thanks

Roger

Danelectro Nifty Fifty in need of repair

Posted Wed, 06/03/2020 - 08:51 by joed

I have a Danelectro Nifty Fifty 15 w amp (I bought it new about 20 years ago and it's been sitting in the closet for about 18 years) which sounds like the speaker is crackling so I replaced it with a Celestion 8 15 speaker but it didn't help.

The amp was a great sounding amp with lots of volume and great tone abilities so I hate to get rid of it. Is there anything I could do to repair it? I consider myself handy with a soldering gun but I have no idea where to start.

Thanks,

-Joe

Hi I am a "brand new" newcommer to the harmonica. Just wanted to get some advice re first harp to purchase. I have been eying the Hohner Special 20 and the Lee Oskar. Can I go wrong with either one? Is there any one of these that you think might make a better fit  as a" learners" instrument. Any other you might recommend?

Thanks in advance

Oscar

Hi Skip, where would be the best place in a circuit to place vintage caps to get the most benifit tone wise, tone controls and preamp plates or after the phase inverter going to power tubes? Assuming caps are good and proper voltage but only have enough for one or the other(preamp or power section). Thanks

Replacing speaker in fender blues jnr

Posted Thu, 02/06/2020 - 11:15 by Scorny

Hi Skip,

I have a blues jnr which I bought about 15years ago. I had a local guy modify it for harp use, he even installed a line out socket.

I know that this isn't the best choice of amp for blues harp,  but I had it and can't run to a new amp yet.

It currently has the standard fender 'eminence ' 12" speaker that it came with. My question is,  I am looking at buying a Jensen p10r speaker to replace the original,  is this a good choice or should I go 12"?

Thanks

Bassman speaker upgrade. Help

I have watched the Bassman Chronicles and haven't figured out what David ended up using in his 1990 Reissue Bassman. I thought the Blue frame p10Rs sounded full bodied and even through out. (using my cell phone). The Jenson Jet tornatos sounded like they had to much base.

Were can I find the same Blue Frame replacment speakers for my Bassman?

Aside from the that I also watch Gary Smith in his video say he thought the Weber brand Speakers had better performance and were better priced. continue reading...
