Mic Selection for Effects Use

Posted Sun, 05/23/2010 - 08:54 by jjudson

David, I just finished watching your mic videos: "What you need to know", and I have some questions.

As you know, I'm heading in a more rock direction with my playing, so I'm not necessarily always looking for a "blues" sound. In particular, I want to experiment with effects pedals, amp modeling, and various other effects, so my questions are these: continue reading...

David,
Seems like your dips in Feelin are very short...shorter than the Chorus breakdowns....should the dips be drawn out or like blips?
Thank you!

Harmonica Masterclass

This is probably not fair to ask in global type setting but........

Are any portion or portions of the Harmonica Masterclass going to be video and/or audio taped?

I desperately wanted to attend this event (especially since it was the last one and I only live 4.5 hours away) but I have an extremely tight schedule for the next three months and will be attending business meetings out of town all during the weekend of the event.

Therefore, if appropriate, if all or part of the sessions were available on video or audio format I know I for one would be eager to purchase same. continue reading...

TB and bending

It's time to ask for some help. I'm a TB'r and enjoy getting the harp into my mouth, but when I need to bend a note I have to back off to a single hole. I've tried all the mouth and tongue contortions I can think of. I know the note/sound I'm after but...........well, I hope you can give me some pointers.. If there's someone else in the forum I should direct this ques. to please tell me. Thanks David

Feelin"...5th chorus

David,
5th chorus, last line...to be able to ever move on to the next lesson I need to pucker the bends (although I can TB..2,4,5 and 6..still pucker goes deeper right now)...but I believe when you get to the lift on 2/1 holes i think this assumes you are in TB?...if i get there can i substitute a lip pull or 123 lift instead because i am then in pucker and then tongue switch the 1's?
Thank you!

Blues Chromatic Study 4

Example 1.2 (the D minor scale) does not appear to be tabbed correctly. It doesn't go along with what you are saying on the video. The flat 6th is tabbed as a 4 draw (but it's 3 draw with button in on the video). On the video, you also use the 4 blow for the C, but the tab uses the 5+ (is one recommended over the other?).
A little confusing for those of us with the tinnier ears.

Thanks
