Chromatic Difficulties - Lesson 3

Posted Mon, 10/22/2018 - 12:37 by bob_greaves_uk@...
bob_greaves_uk@yahoo.co.uk's picture

I have inherited a Hohner Chromatica 10 hole. When trying to use it for lesson 3 I have been shocked how "airy" it is. Now I don't know if I have a poor specimen or this is a common problem when switching over from a diatonic.

Any advice on the matter would be welcome.

Thanks.

2 draw air flow

Hello David,

I'm really having a lot of trouble with keeping my nose closed on the 2 draw, therefore i fill up with air too quickly when playing. The other holes are not a problem, but it seems that sound wont come in the 2 draw unless my nose is open. If i pinch it with my hand i can play the 2 draw for a long while no problem, and if i try closing it with the "slight yawn" tecnique i dont get any sound when playing. What should i do?

Thanks for the help, you're a great teacher.

Regards from Uruguay

Tabbing songs

Dave,

When I have my bendometer on and play a recorded song by one of the harmonica masters, the bendometer lights up the notes that need to be played, but this happens very fast. Has anyone developed a program that will tab the songs for you right off the bendometer. That would be awesome and I would absolutely buy.

GarageBand

Posted Wed, 10/17/2018 - 11:40 by tootsfan1

Greetings ;

I am new to bluesharmonica, and already have learned much about amps and mics.

I am going over your Share topics - namely how to submit a sample of my harp playing using GarageBand.

My question is this - what release of GarageBand will work best with your tutorial ?

I have the `09 release, but it is wanting me to upgrade to the latest iOS version.

Is this a concern, or does it not matter ?

I asked your tech guy Andy. He said he doesn`t use GarageBand, and didn`t know for sure.

Thanks  -  Mark B. (tootsfan1)

Theory #3 follow up question

Just would like to clarify the following relative to Exercise 1.5

When you ask us for the chords made from the C Major C, D, E, F G etc each of the chords made from the respective notes is based on the Major scale of that note.

So D F# A and therefore the Dm is D F A.   My confusion had been that I looked at D in the C Major scale and said okay its D, F, A so therefore the minor triad wouldl be D E A.  That is faulty?   continue reading...
