Stand by Me

On the PDF sheet showing words to the song Stand By Me what notes should appear for each word.

A blank retangle appears above each word. I would like each rectangle filled in with what note should be played for each word.

Thank you,    John

A Harmonica or C Harmonica?

Hi there,

I was sold a C Harmonica (SilverStar) when I asked for a good one to begin with... but it seems that an A Harmonica is what you use in the lessons and what you want us to use... if I use my C, what's the difference?

Thanks

Will I be able to play such a song after completing the LoA?

Hello David.

Please listen to this song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPPGv5hBE0Y

My question is do you teach how to play like that? I'm going through the 4th LoA lessons and so far none of the lessons felt as such. Except maybe some movement exercises.

So will I be able to play such a song after completing the LoA? :-)

Hello,

Wondering if I can get some tips/clarity on using tongue articulations like puills and slaps when accompanying, specifically, when doing the "lump." I want to make sure I am not learning bad habits as I practice! continue reading...

Your Books on Other Instruments

I am so happy that I have spent the last three weeks going through all your videos even though I couldn't keep up with them on the harmonica. I not only got such a great overview of what I will be learning on the harmonica for the next 5 or more years, but also on the the blues for all instruments. My husband was saying to me today (with the videos going constantly morning til night) that it sounded like it was all so similar. I said to him that that was EXACTLY what I liked about it. continue reading...

Hello david

My life is very hectic at the minute. In the last 4 months I've opened a bakery and a restaurant  so having 2 businesses I'm sorry to say leaves me no time to practice ( zero in 4 months).if I do just 10 mins of the daily exercises is that enough. I know its probably not lol but something has to be better than nothing. I just don't want to start over when I have time to practice properly again . Thank you for all your hard work again.

Ps is sharon still practicing. I found her lessons very helpful

Getting the low bends

Posted Tue, 11/19/2019 - 08:42 by gwknopp@gmail.com
gwknopp@gmail.com's picture

Generally Im okay on bends but today I see that Im not getting the 2 ' " (Ab) and the 3 ' " (B) on the Eb harp.  I am a half step off on the 2 draw and a full step on the 3 draw.

I think Im getting my tongue arched and I can get these notes on a C and other harps.

Any guidance?  Too much of too little air?

Filling up with air

Hi David,

when I'm playing Solo Harmonica Ex 1.12 I find there are too many draws for the number of blows so after about 4 bars I can't draw any more, my lungs are full :-(.

Is there a trick to balancing the airflow?

thanks

Lewis
