pawnshop bound solo a cappella

Hi!!

after David talked about that song in his "tip of the day" for the high end playing licks ,

I decided to study that song :)

very fun play, very rich of great harmonica techniques sometimes difficult to play due to the speed of the song,

the high end is great for the 5 octave usage end the non common use of the 2/6 octave..

I recorded a cappella I hope you can hear the licks well :)

Thanks for the comments in advance!!!

My sweet Suzanne

Last one from the inaugral bass session! This is a cover of a Paul Oscher track which I assume is based on a traditional arrangement in itself. It has a very cajun feel to me with the harp sounding very accordian like, using octaves and chords,  so love it or leave it at bluesharmonica.com! The funny thing is that my singer, Ian, did not know the lyrics so there's a fair bit of vocal improvising (not that you would realise without knowing the source of the cover!).

Four until late

Appropriate to upload 'four until late' at 1.20am GMT when I should be in bed on a school night- the second recording from the Kingstown Blues Band's audition with bass player! It's a fairly short jaunt through the RJ classic with comments included! Playing fills and a solo with a Hohner CX12 and I am loving the bass guitar- headphones essential!

See that my grave is kept clean

My band has just recruited a bass player and I thought I would share one or two ipad recordings from the audition, starting with this well covered number- it's a raw take (as are most of my uploads!) and I am playing, as is often the case in my band, an integral part as opposed to being the lead instrument. I am loving what the bass brings to our sound, however, and that's why I wanted to share this. There is no percussion her since our box slapping member could not attend... The harp is kept sparse to offer impact when the solo kicks in... continue reading...

Rollin Rhumba

Here we go....

My last recording before taking a break and review my first 3 achievement levels repertoire.

Rollin Rhumba, I focused on keeping myself on time and get to have a clean sound on short notes like this rhytm inspired. I know I will do better on slapping some notes in fast sequence, I will work on that while progressing.

Enjoy.

Here is my Snake oil recorded. Almost impossible to get that powerful sound like the original, i suppose it's a matter of a mix of embochure and equipments but I got fun playing it. Hope you all enjoy.
