Newbie Harp player here. Just got one for a Xmas gift so gonna give it a go. Absolutely loved your vesrsion of Comfortably Numb and find it very inspirational indeed. All I gotta do now is learn how to bend them notes! ;)

Did you write it down as notation then read it from a sheet or just play it by ear? Curious.

Cheers.

Thx a lot

Hi! I always play by ear. Unfortunately I can't read notes. Tried to and I tried hard but somehow my brain is unable to do the transfer job:-(.

Enjoy your journey. You are at the right place to start! Note: If you work with a Mac you may try Garage Band. On David's side you'll find a tutorial that I made. It is simple and listening to one's recording is a huge help.

Enjoy your new hobby!

Overrall it sounds terrific! I especially liked the tone and feel of the harmonica on on the solos, the last one in some speedy notes had a really rock vibe! Maybe I was missing a bit of that long delay to get a bit of that Gilmour vibe but the tone was fantastic anyway, I didnt really vibe with the verses harmonica parts though maybe for me they were a bit too busy and didnt fit with the overall tone of the song which is more mellow and slow, just the harmonica there gave me some circus music vibes I dont know why maybe the note choice on those parts, but this probably is just me and overall its a fantastic recording and the sound mixing also sounded really good with all the instruments and the voice and harmonica on top so fantastic! keep them coming :)

Thx a lot for the detailed review...

... I appreciate that very much. I'm glad you like it. The "busy part" I have stolen from a Gilmour version where a cello is playing this part (https://youtu.be/X4-EyzuHvv8?si=unjIkMZNrq9bOlTU). For shure in this version my harp playing is a bit too loud. I thought on this platform this is ok 'cause then everybody can hear more easily what's going on.

The mix has been done with GarageBand. If you work with an iPhone or a Mac maybe the lessons I provided for David are interesting for you (Recording (GarageBand for Mac)).

Thank you RabelerF, I for

Hi John, thx for your kind words. For me it is always fun to try things beyond blues. I did something similar with "Under your Thumb" by the Stones. Here I tried to replace the Marimba by harp. I shared it long long ago on Bluesharmonica.com.

Happy harping

Frank
