Hey Greg, hope all is well. Looks like I'll be ordering a Bulletini this week but I need an amp to go along with it. I understand you recommend the Laney Cub but that's north of $350, more than I want to spend on my first amp. I was thinking of the  Fender Champion 20 1x8" 20-watt Combo Amp, which Sweetwater sells for about $130. Any thoughts on this?

I trust Dave's opinion. But

I trust Dave's opinion. But keep this in perspective - definitely a beginner amp and not in the same league tonally as some more expensive amps. If you've only got $100 and just want to play around at home - go for it.

Thanks

Yeah, for me it's only a starter amp. Right now, I'm a bit torn between it and the Fender Mustang. I know Dave is down on that one, though.

The decision is only yours.

The decision is only yours. All I can tell you is that I've regretted almost every decision where I've gone too cheap. If you can't get good tone you'll likely blame the amp (with some justification) - but that will defer your understanding how vital the role your own technique is. /Greg

Roland Micro Cube

I ended up buying a Roland Micro Cube instead. I did this because of its small size and because it'll run on batteries. I'll post a review of it and the Bulletini later this week. BTW, I'm ver pleased with the Bulletini. Its small, sturdy and melodious. I do agree, though, that its worth the extra money to get the one with the volume control. I use it way more than I though I would. Thanks for your help.
