Does anyone have any experience with this mic?  I am looking for a clean sound, mainly for chromatic.

Fireball

I've only had one experience playing the Fireball. I was asked to play a harmonica part written into a choral arrangement of Home on the Range at a choir concert, and the music director told me that the sound tech would provide a mic. I'd figured maybe the ubiquitous Shure SM-58 that every venue has, on a boom stand, which was fine with me. (My own seldom-used but beloved mic is an SM-57 with a Bullitizer attached.) When I arrived for dress rehearsal the sound tech told me he'd asked "my cousin the harmonica player" what mic he should provide for me. Turned out to be a Fireball, to be handheld, tucked out of sight under the piano for the other numbers. It was perfect. Good clean sound to fill a 1200-seat auditorium with the board adding a little bit of reverb. It felt nice in the hands, held like a typical harp mic, and didn't sound in the monitors as if it was too close, even pressed pretty close the harp with typical cupping. While I have a lot of performance experience on various instruments and voice, I'm really just a perpetual beginner on harp, but I was pleased when people I knew who'd attended one or another of the performances complimented me on the sound of my harmonica playing. I know that there are chromatic players out there who love mics like the Blows Me Away Ultimate Series (e.g., Hermine Deurloo), and others who seek out vintage ribbon studio mics, but if I ever needed another mic I'd seriously consider the Audix Fireball. From my limited "test drive" it seems a practical mic for various harmonica styles, and a good dollar value.

Richard Hunter and Christelle

Richard Hunter and Christelle Berthon are two players who use a Fireball. They're both easy to find on the internet.

Some bluesharmonica.com thoughts.

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the feedback.  I decided to order one and should have it in about a week.
