Hey Greg a friend of mine gave me a wireless sm58 without the receiver and I'm in the process of taking it apart and modding it for use with harmonica( transformer swap and xlr connection). But once I got it all taken apart I notice the lack of a transformer   I was hoping you could give me some tips or info about this. Did the wireless models not have transformers (obviously right it has no cable) . Thanks Greg ..

Hi -

I've never opened a wireless 58, but what you're seeing makes engineering sense to me. Why would Shure give up the real estate and cost of a transformer when they could simply design the impedance of the wireless transmitter circuit to couple wth the element directly?  I can supply the proper transformer if you like for $15. Email me greg at blowsmeaway dot com

Cheers!

/Greg
