Hi David

I am doing level 1 at the moment - have been doing so for about 6 weeks?!

I notice that for me, the 2 hole is very difficault to get a pure sound - especialy 2 draw. I don't seem to be able to close lips around harmonica to seal it - as it is too close to edge. Is this common? Can you point me to any tips please?

Thanks in advance :)

Hello wendushka. Issues with

Hello wendushka. Issues with the 2 draw are very common. So much so that it's the first video in the FAQ section https://www.bluesharmonica.com/faq The air leakage you're feeling is a combination of the challenges of playing the 2 draw (your tongue placement, as you'll hear in the video) and possibly mouth placement. I feel the left end of the harmonica in my mouth. Don't shy away from having the left corner of the harmonica in your mouth... as long as you have a light touch, your lips will just flow off of it as you move right.

My pleasure. Good luck with this... the 2 draw commonly takes many months for players to conquer.

I have no business adding to this post

As a recent level 1 student, I too struggled with this hole.  I watched every video on the net on 2 hole draw, but in the end it was frustrated angry experimentation that led me to success.  The first time I made it sound acceptable was pushing my tongue flat in the bottom of my mouth.  Like I was pushing it thru my lower jaw.  I remember it because I choked myself and end up in a coughing fit.  Does it sound great today? - nope.  But now in level 3 it is not something I fear, and I was ready to give up back then - convinced I was never going to play harmonic.

Now I am learning bending and it is not easy.  Funny thing happened after level 2.  It ceased being a contest with myself and I really started to enjoy the learning part of the process.  I think it was because I felt like I could call myself a harmonica player.  Not a good one, but in training - and that's OK by me.

Enjoy the journey...
