David,

I've been practicing my bending for a while now and have made some modest progress. Still, I anticipate that I'll be working at this for a while. My question concerns what to do in the interim. I've mostly learned Blues Creep'n Over Me, but without the bending. I've been reluctant to start Feeling for the Blues as it has many more bends than Creep'n. Still, I feel that I've sort of plateaued for now, at least until I've made more progress on the bends. That concerns me a bit as I want to keep playing and not lose the modest abilities I've developed.

So, what should I do now? Should I wrap up Creep'n and start Feeling even though it has many more bends than I'm capable of doing right now? Or, should I go back and polish the older songs from LOA 1 & 2? Or, is there something else you would recommend. I ask because I've heard that when first learning an instrument you should focus on one song at a time rather than bouncing around too much.

Thanks in advance,

Ace

Hello Ace. Bending does take

Hello Ace. Bending does take time, but you can work on other material to keep you growing. Do all of Solo Harmonica Study 1 and 2 (learning how to do the pull in Tongue Block Study 3 will help you with the pulls used in Section 2). Do the Dynamics lesson (https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/dynamics) and the study song in Tongue Block Study 3.5 (https://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/tongue_blocking_study_35_big_boss...). It's a very fast song, but has no bending. This is a great song, and even though fast, you can whittle away at it over time. Music Theory is also a smart way to spend your time.

Thanks. Ill get right on it.

Thanks. BTW, the bending is coming along, faster than I thought, but still lots to go.

Anyway, what are your thoughts about learning multiple songs at once? Should I just focus on one or seven months into the program is it OK to practice one of the blues songs and perhaps a pop or folk song from harptabs.com or another site? I ask because, though I love the Blues, many people are confused by the music and tend to expect more accessible pieces like perhaps "Shallow" or "Country Roads".

I'm glad to hear your bending

I'm glad to hear your bending is coming along. Working on multiple songs is just fine. Have fun, it's your hobby :-)
