Hi Kinya,

I have an old harmonica that I got from my dad. I tried to repair it as many notes were not working. Now, there is no sound whatsoever from it--the harmonica's not even good for practicing. What should I do with the parts? sell? trash? recycle?

Thanks,

I keep everything

I keep everything, combs, mouthcovers, reed plates, screws, drivepins (nails), rivets,

individual reeds, wind savers, all may come in handy if you ever decide to do your own

work. I even save reed plates that have had all the reeds removed, if for nothing else

I may re-cast the brass into something useful.

Hi harpsquealer,

I'm with Peter, I save everything.

Do me a favor and include photos for all of us to see. I may have some ideas.

Pictures of the harmonica

Sorry for the late response. After a week or so, I came back and took another look at the harmonica. It is not as bad as I originally thought. I guess I exaggerated a little. Most of the notes are now playing (some require more effort than others), so I think that the trouble was related to my embouchure--I am still getting the hang of playing properly. But thanks for the input about spare parts and old harmonicas though. I appreciate the help and input.
