I ordered a Windy City Plus amplifier and need to decide whether to fit it with a Weber or Eminence speaker. The Windy City Plus equipment review here was fitted with an Eminence. I've listened to a number of youtube videos, but most don't mention the speaker selection. The one that did mention the Weber sounded excellent as did all the other videos.

Since this is my first amp and microphone purchase (I also ordered a Honer Harp Blaster mic) I'd like to benefit from the collective wisdom here at bluesharmonica.com. Which is a better fit for a new player who doesn't know what the heck he's doing... Weber or Eminennce?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike, Sorry for the delay

Hi Mike,

Sorry for the delay in responding - I have not been on the site in a while.

I restored a 1973 Princeton Reverb amp about 20 years ago, and I went with a Weber speaker. The amp has always sounded great. My mentor at the time recommended that I ask for the "harmonica cone", when ordering the speaker, which I did. I have no idea what the difference is, but my mentor's hobby was also resoring vintage tube amps, so I trusted his judgment.

I have no experience with the Eminence speaker,  but I have a 10" Weber, and I like it very much.

Cheers! -Dave K.

I went with the Eminence

I ended up going with the Eminence since that was the speaker in the Windy City Plus reviewed in the bluesharmonica.com equipment section. The amp arrived 2 weeks ago and I really like it even though I'm still working on my cupping techinque and figuring out the volume and tone settings.

No worries on the delayed reply. It's good to hear the Weber is held in high regard.

Mike
