In a rehearsal studio last night was happy to see what I thought was a 59 Bassman reissue. Tweed, tall and square. I played it and was pretty satisfied.

However, it had a drive channel. It did not have a bright channel as I know the Bassman to have. It had master, drive, and volume knobs, and a channel select button.

Was I playing a Bassman???

No, not a Bassman

Hello Paul-  It is really fantastic that got a good-sounding amp at the rehearsal and were able to get the tone you wanted. However, no "classic" Bassman, whether original or re-issue has a "drive" or "master" control.  I'm thinking it was probably a Blues Deville?

Yes it was a Blues DeVille. I

Yes it was a Blues DeVille. I played it the following week. A worthy amp I think if someone comes across it. Thanks Skip.
