Hi Dave,

What is the reason for changing from a G harp in second position to a C harp in third position in "Walter's Mood"? Is it the range of the tune, or the different feel of the third position? I know I can't play the last three choruses with the G harp without sounding weird. But I also wouldn't be able to tell whether the last three choruses were played in third position if someone asked me.

It's the different sound for third position. Not everything written can be played in 2nd Position. For fun rewrite everything for 2nd Position and see the difference. The open lick would be... 2 3', 4+ 2 3' 2 2'

So then this happened because you used different licks from Little Walter and put them together in the same song?

You can no doubt just use a G

You can no doubt just use a G harmonica for the entire song. 3rd Position is cool... Little Walter playing 3rd Position is even cooler... this is why I put it in there :-)
